Estimate only, based on standard 2026/27 statutory rates. Your actual entitlement depends on your specific average weekly earnings calculation (based on your 8-week reference period), employer policy, and individual circumstances. If you don't meet the eligibility criteria shown above, you may still qualify for Maternity Allowance — paid by the DWP at the same weekly rate, but tax-free. About this calculator

This free maternity and paternity pay calculator gives you an instant estimate of your Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) and Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) for 2026/27. Enter your salary and how long you've been employed, and the calculator checks your eligibility, works out your week-by-week rate, and gives you a full total — including the gap between the 39 weeks that are actually paid and the full 52-week maternity leave entitlement.

What does it calculate?

The calculator covers both statutory parental pay entitlements for 2026/27:

Statutory rate

£194.32 a week for 2026/27, up from £187.18 in 2025/26.

Lower Earnings Limit

Standard allowance is 129 a week for 2026/27, up from £125.

Qualifying period

9% on profits between £26 weeks continuous employment by the qualifying week (15 weeks before the due date).50,270, and 2% above that (2026/27).

Paternity leave update

From April 2026, paternity leave is a day-one right — but paternity pay still requires the 26-week qualifying period.

Who is this for?

This calculator is designed for employees in the UK who are expecting a baby, adopting, or whose partner is expecting. If you don't meet the eligibility criteria for SMP, the calculator flags that you may be entitled to Maternity Allowance instead — paid by the DWP at the same rate, but completely tax-free.

Once you know your SMP or SPP figure, use the “See your take-home after tax” button to find out exactly what lands in your bank account once Income Tax and National Insurance are deducted — both are taxable, just like normal wages.
