Why people need a replacement P60

  • Mortgage or remortgage applications — most lenders ask for two or three years of P60s as proof of annual income
  • Rental and letting agreements — landlords and letting agents routinely ask for a P60 to check affordability
  • Visa and immigration applications — including spouse visas and indefinite leave to remain, which often require historic P60s
  • Tax and HMRC queries — reconciling figures, claiming a refund, or completing a Self Assessment return
  • Benefit claims — Universal Credit and other benefits sometimes require proof of a full tax year's income

Replacement P60s are not fabricated documents

They are duplicates of records you were legally entitled to receive in the first place — recreated using your actual pay data, on genuine HMRC-approved payroll stationery. The document does not say ‘replacement’, ‘copy’ or ‘duplicate’ anywhere on it.

How it works

  1. Enter your pay details — salary, tax code, NI number, employer name and address, and the tax year
  2. Our system calculates income tax, National Insurance, pension and student loan automatically — or you can enter your own figures
  3. Preview a free sample PDF before paying anything
  4. Download instantly or receive printed documents by post, on genuine payroll stationery matching the format used for that tax year

What if you're missing some figures?

Useful supporting sources include your HMRC Personal Tax Account (which shows gross earnings and tax paid per employer, per tax year), old payslips, bank statements showing net pay credits, or a previous P60 or P45. If you're unsure of exact figures, use the free P60 Calculator to check what your income tax and National Insurance should be before creating your document.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a replacement P60 from HMRC?

No — HMRC don't issue P60s. They can provide a statement of earnings via your Personal Tax Account at gov.uk, which shows the same gross pay and tax figures and is widely accepted as an alternative. If you need the actual P60 format, OS Payroll can produce a replacement document using those figures.

Will it look like my original P60?

Yes. We use genuine HMRC-approved payroll stationery matching the format issued for that specific tax year. The document does not say 'replacement' or 'copy'.

What tax years can I get a replacement for?

OS Payroll can produce replacement P60s going back over 20 years.

What if I don't know my exact figures?

Check your HMRC Personal Tax Account first, or use the free P60 Calculator to check your income tax and NI figures before creating your document.

Is this accepted for mortgages, visas and HMRC queries?

Yes — replacement P60s from OS Payroll are produced on genuine payroll stationery and are accepted by mortgage lenders, letting agents, and for visa and benefit applications, in the same way as an original P60.
