How to Get a Copy P60

If looking to get a copy P60 you should always start with your employer. If you only need the most recent document it should be very easy. But if you need it quickly, require printed forms, or copies from previous years, that’s where our service shines.

Computerised payroll makes it simple for employers to print or email a copy. They should be willing to help, so don’t be afraid to ask. If the company runs online payroll, copies will be available for download. The last P60 should be straightforward. Going back to older pay years more difficult if data has been archived.

Correct P60 Stationery

Employers are also unlikely to have old stationery so a basic printout is a likely outcome. The pay forms are pre-printed with a year end date and need to be on the correct copy. We’re happy to provide old forms to your company if they need help. If they're struggling to produce your documents we are happy to work with them to get you the items you need.


HMRC can Help with Pay Information

If you can’t get what you need from the company HMRC can also provide a service (sort of). They won’t produce a copy P60 but will send you details of your earnings and deductions. It will be on headed paper from the revenue and should be fine as proof of earnings / employment. It can take up to a few weeks to arrive unfortunately. You can also access personal pay information via the Government Gateway. Knowing your earnings for any given pay year is the key information and with that you can then get a copy P60 online.

If you know how much you earned, it’s quite simple. You can enter all data or we can calculate from the total pay. Submit your details and we send a sample copy by email. If you’re happy there’s a link to pay and we print and post your P60. You receive an original document usually next day or shortly after.

Even if you no longer work for the company they should still help. Call or send a polite email asking for a copy. Tell them HMRC suggested you get in touch (which they do on the .gov website). Should I report a lost P60?

It is important to keep safe but unlikely to be of any use to anyone else. A P60 is often used as proof of earnings but never on its own. They would need other identity documents too. Such as a passport. Driving licence. Utility bill. Bank card, etc. In isolation the P60 is of little value. It contains your address so if found you can get it back.


Do I need printed forms?

In recent years the rules have relaxed. A black and white printout from the payroll system is acceptable. And lots of companies do that.
